CHOOSE YOUR PERFORMANCE STYLE
Depending on what previous experience you’ve had with DJs, your expectations may differ from what each individual DJ actually offers. You may assume they just create and play an awesome playlist, or you may expect them to spin tracks. DJs perform differently but determining what type of performance you’re wanting ahead of time will help your search. Another factor to consider is if you are requesting the DJ to also emcee or if you will have someone else appointed to do so. This would include announcing first dances, toasts, games, and other moments you may have during the reception. Not all DJs are willing to emcee, or they may only do so if you book a two DJ package. This type of package will include a DJ to be in charge of the sound while the other DJ can focus on being the emcee.
CONSIDER OTHER FEATURES
Your entertainment experience is more than just how your DJ performs, but also what else they can offer. Most DJs have high tech equipment that enhance the experience, others may include special lighting designs or fog machines, and some DJs even have packages that include special photo booths to add to your celebration! It’s important to think about which features will help create your perfect party so that you know what to look for.
SET A BUDGET
If you know how much total you are able to spend on your wedding, you can start to break it down to see how you will allocate that money. When you’ve determined what you are all looking for from a DJ, you can start to see how much you will need to spend on one. You may need to reevaluate your DJ preferences if they don’t fit into your budget. However, if they are non-negotiable you can try to adjust other aspects of your budget that are more expendable to you.
