Not as Planned: Navigating Covid Weddings

What happens when life happens? It’s no secret that life does not always go as expected. No matter how much we plan and prepare, things don’t always go our way and we’re forced to pivot. So, what do you do when a global pandemic disrupts the most special day of your life? We want to help you figure out the next steps for your ceremony, because pandemic or not, you deserve to have a magical day.

POSTPONING

Lots of couples may choose to postpone their ceremonies for a date far away and safe from miss Rona herself. Choosing to push off a day that has already been so long awaited is not an easy decision to make. If quarantine has given us anything though, it’s the gift of time, and having more time before your big day is the perfect opportunity to prepare and tie up all loose ends. Before the fun stuff, there are a few postponing chores you’ll want to take care of right away.

First and foremost, you’ll want to update your guests. Many stationary services are offering deals for couples needing to reprint new invitations and save the dates. After notifying your guest list, start contacting vendors to reschedule their services. It may not be possible to book all the same vendors, but luckily there is no shortage of amazing vendors in Phoenix. Finally, it's time to dive back into planning mode, better late than never, right?

CARRY ON WITH AN INTIMATE CEREMONY

If waiting even another minute doesn’t sound appealing, then adjusting your wedding to a small ceremony might be a good choice. Most couples imagine sharing this day with everyone they love and care about, but there is something to be said about an intimate ceremony. Standing up with only your closest friends and family creates a lasting memory that is truly unforgettable.

When choosing to continue with a minimal guest list, you’re left with the unfortunate task of uninviting your guests. We hope your guest list was made up of only people who care about the two of you and support your decision. But if they don’t, we have faith that after explaining why this is the best option for you and your significant other, they will be more understanding.

Some of your vendors, including your reception venue, catering, and DJ or musicians, you’ll probably want to cancel completely. However, you may still want to use some other vendors, with just a few adjustments, such as your rentals, florist, and wedding coordinator, fingers crossed. Once you contact your vendors you can get to the good stuff, your ceremony!

IT’LL STILL BE

A FAIRY-TALE

Your wedding day is one of the happiest days of your life but the time leading up to it can be stressful. Nevertheless, when issues arise and things don’t go as planned, you can find comfort knowing that at the end of the day you are about to spend the rest of your life with your soulmate. Neither rescheduling nor condensing your guest list is how anyone plans for their wedding day to go, but nothing, not even a global pandemic, can make your day anything less than a fairy tale.
