Arizona has so much to see and do but with such a full state it can be hard to decide exactly what to do and where to go. Whether you’re looking to take a quick weekend trip before the summer ends, or just needing to get out of the house for a day, we have you covered. We’ve compiled a guide of our favorite things to do in Arizona, separated by region because, as you know, making your life a little bit easier is our specialty!

FLAGSTAFF

Looking to escape the treacherous Phoenix heat? Head up North to Flagstaff and check out these awesome spots to visit!

Lava Caves - Explore the volcanic tunnels of Flagstaff at the Lava Caves. This mile long tunnel is unlike any hiking experience you’ve ever had

Extreme Ropes Course - Challenge yourself with this tree-top adventure course. This is a great activity for you and your friends or family, and allows you to push your limits and test your strengths.

Snowbowl Ski Lift - Hop on the Sky Ride this summer to travel up the Agassiz Peak, where you can see breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon’s North Rim and the dormant volcano field.

SEDONA

Extend your trip by stopping to explore the Red Rocks of Sedona on your way back.

Devil’s Bridge - This iconic view is found at the end of a 6.8 km trail in Coconino National Forest. The breathtaking views of the Red Rocks make this steep hike worth every step.

Slide Rock - Fun for all ages, this ultimate water slide, found in Oak Creek Canyon, is a must do for anyone in Arizona. You can spend all day letting the cool water rush you down a slippery rock bed, jumping from the rocks, or just swimming in the river!

PRESCOTT

This quaint town, while small, has so much to offer. Take a weekend to explore the town’s historic sites like Whiskey Row and their various museums, shop the downtown district or the gateway mall, or enjoy some nature activities at Watson lake.

ACROSANTI

East of Prescott, right off the 17 lies the urban laboratory, Acrosanti. In 1970, architect Paolo Soleri began constructing this experimental town to test his urban planning concept. The town aims to combine architecture and ecology to create more sustainable forms of living. Visitors can take tours, engage in a learning workshop, or visit their beautiful cafe while exploring the hidden gem of Acrosanti.

TUCSON

Just a few hours south of Phoenix, Tucson has a variety of activities and scenic attractions to check out.

JW Marriott Resort & Spa - This resort is perfect if you’re looking for a simple getaway to relax and enjoy yourself. Start your day at the Hashani Spa and choose from over 15 services. Then you’ll definitely want to check out the golf course or head to the pool; swimming, floating around the lazy river, or riding down the twisty water slide. Finish off the day at one of the many resort dining options.

Mount Lemmon - Home to the cute town of Summerhaven, Mount Lemmon, is filled with activities for everyone. Make a weekend out of it by setting up camp at one of the campgrounds or rent a cabin. Once there, you can enjoy a day of hiking on the many trails, visit the Mount Lemmon General Store and Gift shop to load up on their famous homemade fudge, stop at the other fun shops and restaurants, and end your day by stargazing at the SkyCenter observatory.

PHOENIX

Stay local with these fun activities you can find right here in the Phoenix area.

Spa/Pool - Treat yourself to a relaxing staycation by booking an appointment at one of the many spas, or reserve a day pass at a local resort. Visit resortpass.com to discover hotels and resorts in Phoenix that offer daily access passes for you to perfect your tan while enjoying the cocktail of your choice. Some resorts also offer passes to their spas, or you can always do a quick search of other local spas.

Salt River Tubing - Float down the Salt River in Tonto National Forest, by heading just outside Mesa. Gather a group of friends, pack a bag of your favorite snacks and drinks (water is a must), rent your tube at the shuttle pickup, or bring your own, and let the current take you and all your worries away.

Saguaro Lake - Looking for more water activities? Saguaro Lake Marina offers boat rentals including: fishing boats, pontoons, kayaks, and canoes, for you to explore the lake. You can also get the full experience by taking a guided boat tour. Desert Belle offers three cruise options being; narration cruise, live music cruise, and the wine cruise. Before leaving the marina, be sure to visit ShipRock restaurant.

Tempe Town Lake - Tempe is the first on our list for night life activities, but if the bar scene isn’t at the top of your list, then you should head over to tempe town lake. You can choose to explore the water with kayaks, peddle boats, and paddle boards, or you can stay dry on land by walking, riding bikes or hopping on a Segway for a tour along the lakeside path.

OUT-OF-STATE

One of the best things about Arizona is how many places there are to visit close by, both in state and out of state. In just about 6 six hours, you could be lounging on the beaches of sunny San Diego or exploring the fabulous parts of L.A. and Hollywood. Or maybe you’re looking to go a little crazy, well Las Vegas is only 4 hours away from central Phoenix.

We can’t wait to see how you all choose to explore our beautiful state!
